Cippenham Nursery School has recently been awarded the Slough Healthy Smiles Gold Award.  This is in recognition for promoting a healthy lifestyle through curriculum activities, offering children healthy snacks and drinks and encouraging healthy lunch boxes.  Furthermore we have been promoting good oral hygiene by adopting the' toothbrush scheme' and encouraging parents to offer stickers to children for birthdays instead of sweets. We would like to thank parents for their co-operation in reinforcing the Nursery's Healthy Schools policy with their children.

The first workshop to be held in the Yellow Room was focused on language and literacy development as part of a whole school campus and children centre project called Hello 2 You, which aims to raise language and literacy standards in Cippenham. This was attended by Professor Helen Bilton, award winning lecturer and author, who has been supporting the project and used the opportunity to officially open the room. The new multi-functional room was completed during the Easter break and will provide much needed space for our playgroup, workshops, staff training, professional meetings, community activities and as a lunch hall for the children.

As part of our ECO schools project, each child was given a battery recycling box to collect old, used batteries.  Once filled, they brought the boxes back to Nursery and prizes were awarded to those children that collected the most in each group.  We had a fantastic response and counted a total of 1949 batteries, weighing in at 40.8kgs!  The battery collection bin, located in reception, will remain as a collection point for recycling batteries, so parents and children can carry on the good work.  Below are photos of the event including winners from each group.

On Friday 15th March children and staff dressed in red for Red Nose Day in aid of Comic Relief.  Cakes and savouries were on sale and we raised a total of £236.  We also sold 80 red noses totalling £100.  Thank you to everyone who donated cakes/savouries, bought a nose and contributed to the fundraising.  Our local MP Tan Dhesi was also on hand to offer his support and meet our parents.

Nursery schools nationwide are facing an uncertain future with government funding being reduced.  Over recent months concerned parents from the five Slough nurseries have been signing a petition to present to Parliament.  Our local MP Tan Dhesi was on hand to receive over 1600 signatures which he will deliver to Westminster, to add to the countrywide petitions, on 5th February.  Please click on the link below for further information.

On the 5th December 2018 we had a visit from our local traffic police officer and our police community support officer who talked to the children about road safety.  Each child received a certificate for taking part.  They were also given a sheet to take home and colour in as a competition.  A winner will be selected from each group.

Cippenham Nursery has been awarded the Slough Healthy Smiles Silver Award.  This is in recognition for promoting a healthy lifestyle through curriculum activities, offering children healthy snacks and drinks and encouraging healthy lunch boxes.  Also encouraging parents to offer stickers to children for birthdays instead of sweets.

To promote oral hygiene and support speech development, we have organised a visit from the Dummy & Bottle Fairy to give parents the opportunity to wean their children off their bottle/dummy.  Certificates are handed to those children who hand them to the Fairy.

We have leaflets and information available for parents to support them in making healthy choices.
